Clara Cortina is lecturer in Sociology at the Department of Political and Social Sciences at the Universitat Pompeu Fabra (UPF) in Barcelona. Her research interests are focused on current changes in partnership and family dynamics and the implications of family change in multiple domains (demographic trends, social inequality and gender relations).

Patrick Festy is an emeritus senior researcher at Ined (National institute for demographic studies, France). He is specialized in the study of family issues and in the methodology of international comparisons.
